Your Privacy Matters

Overview

Safetyline is a personal safety check-in app. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rightsregarding that information. We never sell your data to third parties.

Account information: your name, email address, and optionally your phone number.

Emergency contact information: the names, email addresses, and phone numbers of people you designate as emergency contacts•

Check-in activity: timestamps of when check-ins were scheduled, completed, or missed

Device token: a push notification token used solely to deliver check-in reminders to your device.

To send you local notifications reminding you to check in.

To alert your emergency contacts via email and SMS if you miss a scheduled check-in.

To send your emergency contacts a weekly summary of your check-in activity.

To maintain your account and provide app functionality.

We do not use your data for advertising, analytics profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

Information we Collect
How do we use your Information

Your emergency contacts' information is stored securely and used only to send them alerts on your behalf — when you miss a check-in or when the weekly summary is sent. We do not contact them for any other purpose, and we do not share their information with any third party.

Emergency Contact Data

All data is stored in a secured PostgreSQL database. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text. Communication between the app and our server uses HTTPS encryption. We retain your data as long as your account is active.

Safetyline uses the following third-party services to deliver notifications:

Resend (resend.com) — used to send email alerts. Your contact's email address is transmitted to Resend solely for delivery.

Twilio (twilio.com) — used to send SMS alerts. Phone numbers are transmitted to Twilio solely for delivery.

Expo Push Notifications — used to deliver push notifications to your device.

Your device push token is transmitted to Expo's servers.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data in transit.

Your Rights

You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account). You can also:

Remove emergency contacts from the app at any time.

Disable or delete check-in schedules at any time.

Revoke push notification permission through your device settings.

Children's Privacy

Safetyline is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
